Creating The Puuuurfect Cat Eye~ The Winged Eyeliner Effect.

A few of you guys have asked me , How do I get That Winged Liner look, aka THE CAT EYE?

So here you are, I love this look, it's simple and classic and can be reinvented any way you like. Follow the Steps below and then experiment with color and shading,  create a classic eye Ala, BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S or a Sexy Smokey Vamp Eye.  Have fun and don't poke your eye out.

     You have two main options for product--liquid liner or pot liner with an angled, thin brush. Truthfully, the best way to understand which is your best for the task is to test out both.

     2 Let's pretend you've decided on the liquid--in my estimation, an inferior choice, but some of you just can't get down with a brush and I respect that--so, liquid. Choose the shortest pen-tip you can find--bizarrely, my faves have been drugstore finds. The shorter the tip, the more control you have.

     Set up a hands-free magnified mirror--you'll need all the hands you can get for this one. Starting with the inner corner of your eye, barely touch the pen to your lashline and slowly drag toward the outer corner of your eye.

     The key is to make your line as close to the lashes as humanly possible--if you want to fatten it up later, by all means do.

     As you round toward the edge, sort of flick your wrist slightly but confidently toward your temple. It's better to make a longer extended liner--we can always q-tip it off later. The key is more about placement of wing, rather than the length initially.

     All of these steps need to be done with an open eye. It's really hard to tell what something as specific as a winged liner will look like when your eyes are open, if you apply when your eyes are closed. This holds true for almost any shadow application, too. As much as you can flex your little eye-muscles to be able to hold both eyes open when you apply, the more you'll know exactly what your face will look like when you're done.

     Open both eyes and with a normal expression on your face (not a raised brow) and assess your work. GET THE LOOK: A SINGLE MAN'S JULIANNE MOORE

STEP BY STEP: Get Julianne Moore's makeup Look from "A SINGLE MAN"

I was given a request to post on how to do Julianne Moore's makeup from the TOM FORD directed masterpiece, A SINGLE MAN. I will do my best for them and for you. This is vital 1960's fashion.
Very Chic and stylish. I'm my attempt to  create a step by step how to do makeup, i am going to be pretty vague on specific products as to let you play and create form your own stuff.

So here we go!

1. SKIN
Julianna's skin looks very natural as you can still see her freckles on her face. So try a Tinted moisturizer, make sure it contains SPF please. Then set it with some loose powder for a matte finish, i would suggest Makeupforever's HD Finishing Powder.

2.EYES
 For your eyes start by using a pale eye shadow across the lid, you can choose how dramatic you want to go, i suggest using something matte finish, maybe try Smashbox Vanilla, MAC paints in Bare Canvas or the IT stick from Benefit.

a. again with a matte finish, take a dark shadow to the crease of your eye and contour to create depth leaving the top lid white. examples Sable, deep Purples?

b. Line the top of the lid winging it out at the end, i like Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner pen, its amazing for doing winged liner. Line the under eye with a charcoal, brown or black liner and smudge just a taste.

c.  Line the insides of the lower rims with a white liner pencil, there are some great ones out there too.
MAC Pale Yellow is awesome.

d.  layer on your favorite mascara and apply a strip or a few individual for pop. start center and corners

3.  CHEEKS
I think cheeks are not center stage in this look so use something soft , a cream blush would be great, id say try TARTES Tipsy


4.  LIPS
And to top of this look apply a natural lipstick, nude or pale coral would be sweet. oh and i can't believe i am saying this but no gloss, try a lipstick  with luster.

here's a tip: For a fine line, use just the tip of the pen. Hold pen with tip pointing at the eye lid and gently glide from onner to outer corners of the eye.
& for a thicker line, lay the pen on its side and gently glidding along the lash line from inner to outer eye. The more pressure applied, the thicker the line you will get.

This is a personal favorite of mine, i have maybe 3 at all times in my kit. This is a signature color that I use on Brooke Burns , thou i do layer it with a light peachy shimmer blush, Using Radiance on the apples. IT'S A MUST HAVE!

So What's Mykethemakeupguy's Favorite Lip Color at the moment?

I wanted to share with you guy's my Lip Gloss shade of the moment, SMASHBOX LIP ENHANCING GLOSS in AFTERGLOW. It's a sheer, shimmery cool pink that leans towards the pinkish, nude spectrum of colors. I have been really into this shade for a while now. Let's say , It's some what of a signature color for me. I always have it in my kit and always have a few just in case. When I use this on an actress or a client, they always end up taking it home with them, so I need to be stocked up. I find that depending on your lips own natural pigment. Afterglow can look completely different on anyone. I actually tend not to use any with lip liners too, I think the color stands on its own leg alone, but when I do use a lip Liner, I tend to stay very natural, almost matching the lip as much as possible. A few liners that I do use along with Afterglow are,THE NUDE LIP LINER from SMASHBOX, in LIGHT and STRIPDOWN by MAC. So you see there are very nude in shade.

Experiment with color! Wear sheer shades alone for a glossy tint or over lipstick for extra glamour, and true and full shades in place of lipstick for long-lasting color and luminosity.

CELEBRITY MAKEUP MISHAPS

Lately we have been seeing a lot of  photographs of Stars out and about and at Red Carpet Events wearing not only amazing Couture Gowns, but lots of white powder on there faces.  If it was 1982 I'm not sure the mystery substance would be such a mystery at all.  Now,  most of these stars have there very own beauty teams that help them get geared up for special events, and unless  there makeup artist is really pissed off, a complette idiot or holding a grudge , I don't think that it's intentional at all. It seems to me the  powder at hand is Makeup For Ever  HD Micro Finish Powder.   This powder is pure silica and is an amazing one universal shade, white that  transfers to face translucent. I use this on  anyone skin.And infact  it's in every set bag and you don't need that much to get the job done.

From the looks on all these pictures, it's place where one would put powder to highlight and capture fallout from eye shadows. You then would brush it away leaving a smooth , clean surface that pops the eyes. I still use that technique of placing powder under their eyes, to high light check bones and the bridge of the nose. But I don't use Makeup For Ever HD Powder. to do it.  It's to set makeup and prevent shine on HD film & cameras.  So I kinda do find fault with the makeup artists doing these gals and guys faces.
It's a little thing called blending! I have done this once using this products and I used it under the eyes for fallout safety so the shadows wouldn't fall into the foundation. An luckily I caught i right away while taking a continuity picture. So with a sponge or a fan tail brush i simple swept it away.
