What's in My Kit?

As a professional makeup artist you kinda need to have a little of this, a little of that, some of this...you get where I'm going? You never know what you will need and that need changes when the job changes as well. So that's where your inventory starts and you begin to  build you kit. Si inside my kit there are products that I must have. Let's call them Staples and sometime when I don't have an item that's I depend on and  can feel a bit off my game, but just for a second. So here are a few  products that I MUST have!

1. COTTON TAIL ~ Q-Tips

Q-tips are a must in any one's kit. and there are many types to have and love. I prefer the wood  applicators.  There are sturdier and the tip is packed tight....and they look great on your station.

2. CONCEALER PALETTE

I really love these empty palette's. There great for all those half empty concealer's that

3. MARIO BADESCU~Drying Lotion

Without mentioning names, sometimes the stress of early morning morning calls and lack of sleep and craft service causes talent to have breakouts and in the world HD and the RED CAMERA you want to get it fixed real fast...Thank God for Mario Badescu . It has saved my life a few times...

These are one of my all time favorite must have products. They're great for lips too.
I use these alone or layered with another blush color..... hum, like SMASHBOX Paradise blush with TARTE Tickled. it makes for pretty pretty!

NUANCE Flawless Wear Tinted Moisturizer

It seems that Actress Salma Hayak has jumped on the, "I want to be a beauty mover and shaker too". band -wagon. She has created an entire beauty line  including Haircare products. Well , I couldn't
help myself. I went on over to my local CVS, yes, CVS and checked it out. I liked it, Salma, I liked it.
It's an oil free, sheer- coverage moisturizing tinted  moisturizer that's mineral based. i found it to work well on HD as well. It doesn't sit on your face allowing the fine lines to just get filled with product, YUCK!, but rather blends and radiates your skin. I have not checked out the rest of her line , but I will in time. Check it of at your local CVS or on line at CVS $13.99
 Oh and it's super transparent so it looks like your wearing nothing.

STILA ~STAY ALL DAY EYE LINER

I love the idea of a eye liner pen, it's the perfect way to get an amazing line and get as graphic as you can, and still  you can still do a natural look by lining right on the upper lash line. Prefect for a clean crisp cat eye. And when they say, "stay All Day", they mean it, i lined the back of my hand around 10;30 am an by 6pm it was still there, mind you I wash my hands religiously during the day too.  It's not waterproof, but water resistant.

TARTE LipSurgence In PEACEFULL Tarte as been  amazing to me and I keep using them   because there products are amazing and high qualityand  never let me down. I am working on a western and well back in the prairie days they really didn't wearlipstick  or gloss, unless you where a lady of the night.  These amazing tints add just the touch of color for a natural looking lip with moisturizing at the same time,  try it, i can't keep these beauties in my kit.  $24.00 TARTE 5. MAKEUP FOREVER HD FINISHING POWDER This is a staple for me, I can use this and it's great for every one's skin tone,  leaves noresidue on skin, just buff it out good. Here's something new from REVLON, its the first every drugstore foundation targeted to HD & film.

I actually love this, and it's way cheaper then most of the Hi-Def foundation brands That I am currently using.  I have only one shade at the moment, but this is what I will say about it, if you want to achieve 

pore less airbrushed skin in most any light with its photo chromatic pigments help diffuse light to help your skin erase flaws, with really good coverage. I like the softness and luminous finish that I have seen on an actresses face and I mean it's $13.99 hello!

I just tested this new tinted moisturizer this week and i actually really like it, i am not a huge fan of anything tinted in the place of foundation, so many girl request it, but let's be honest its great if you have baby like skin with out any marks,discoloration etc.... so very few people can just wear a tinted moisturizer, but i found these to be really nice and work well with most powder. It give your skin all day hydration and a slash of color with healthy, protective barrier. it will  cover your small imperfections  with the added Boost of SPF (important) comes in 6 shades $24.00 CLINIQUE

I am always on the hunt down for great concealers and i find them most of the time.

In this day and age of the Hi-def  camera and television set. I thought why not share the best HD foundations with you all, in the case that you where wondering hey, what's the best HD foundation? Well, here are a few that I used myself  while filming film & television. Weather it's a hi def camera or a red camera, these foundations will do the trick. SMOOTH & CONCEAL WITH TARTE THE ERASER CONCEALER

My Friend Actress Becky Wu, just reminded me a few minutes ago just how much I love Tarte The Eraser Concealer.  I love the idea of a concealer and brush all in one, it's easy to get to when your in a hurry and its cleaner. Myke's 4 To know! New To me Products

So here are some products that have me very  intrigued. Some are new and some are just plan new to me. Sometime as a Makeup Artist, I get very comfortable with the products and makeup lines that I love and use already, based on pigments, performance and the easiness of using brands that you trust. That I simply don't step out of my little makeup trailer to see that there are so many, many options out there, you know you never know till you try it. So here are few new fresh picks, that I have added to my big box of makeup tricks.

1. e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder

Create a healthy and natural glow all year long. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition.

Can i just say "hello?" I love this duo. I've used each shade alone and together. and you will never guess how much it cost? waiting? $3.00, yes, you heard me.


Just a Tip: Brush the bronze to the hollows of your cheek to define, and you can also dust it around your face line to create a healty glow. Then use the blush on the apples of your cheeks. I myself like to add a tad more to the apple for a strong yet healthy glow.

I never have been, it's to hard to clean up and some brands feather to to  easy, However, SMASHBOX, makes a gloss that I do love that is red, but glides on so sheer and subtle, also called Siren. Just recently while working with Fellow Makeup Artist, Jesse Lindholm on a film 'FIXING PETE" She introduced me to HOURGLASS Extreme Sheen lip gloss in  Siren.
